High-quality data have the potential to be reused in many ways. Archiving and publishing your data properly is at the core of making your data FAIR and will enable both your future self as well as others to get the most out of your data. Recently, more and more scientific journals are implementing open data policies, leading to researchers' dilemmas about where, when and how to publish the data.
This free workshop is an introduction to computational social science. It offers attendees a chance to understand and discuss what computational social science is, what it is good for, how to become a computational social scientist, and the basic steps to follow in an ideal computational social science research project.
This free 90-minute online workshop will explain the difference between types of consent and how as a researcher you can consider data archiving and future reuse in the consent process, considering one-off and process consent. This session will also focus on highlighting best practices to prepare consent documentation. We will evaluate consent forms researchers have used in practice and discuss the model consent form the UK Data Service advocates. There will be time at the end for questions and discussion.
This is a workshop designed to give participants a virtual tour of ReShare, where you will learn everything you need to know in order to archive data using our self-deposit repository.
In this webinar, the panelists provide their experiences with the tests they have used to evaluate the FAIRness of their metadata, the measures they took to improve their FAIRness score, and recommendations to others who would like to improve their score using FAIRness evaluation tests. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.
This CESSDA® Roadshow on the Circular Economy brings together experts from service providers and top-level researchers to explore the key role of the social sciences with impartial, reliable data on attitudes and practices to recycling and eco-design. It will guide participants through valuable resources in the CESSDA Data Catalogue®, give examples of data use and reuse as best practices and explain how researchers can organise and process data using the ESSDA Data Management Expert Guide®.
In this free 90-minute online workshop, participants will learn about the relevant legislation such as data protection legislation and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Participants will also learn about strategies that enable them to share research data. These include carrying out an assessment of disclosure risk, obtaining informed consent, anonymising data and regulating access to enable data to be shared. There will be time at the end for questions and discussion.
This CESSDA® Roadshow focuses on how the Data Catalogue and Data Management Expert Guide support researchers in work on cancer and major chronic diseases based on impartial and trusted datasets and metadata. It features a practical demo of the DC and highlights the importance of secure access to data, storage and protection, with real-world examples of best practices for use and re-use by the social sciences research community. Participants can also enjoy an engaging interactive discussion between the service providers and researchers on the roadshow topic.
In this free session, we will discuss key essential processes: writing a data management plan for research grants; documenting your data appropriately and effectively; formatting and organising your data; and storing your data, including data transfer, encryption, and file sharing.
In this interactive workshop, you will have an opportunity to develop an anonymisation plan, test your knowledge on legal and ethical obligations, and discuss how to strike a balance between anonymisation (or pseudonymisation), access regulation, and consent.
