Consent issues in data sharing

This free 90-minute online workshop will explain the difference between types of consent and how as a researcher you can consider data archiving and future reuse in the consent process, considering one-off and process consent. This session will also focus on highlighting best practices to prepare consent documentation. We will evaluate consent forms researchers have used in practice and discuss the model consent form the UK Data Service advocates. There will be time at the end for questions and discussion.

Does your research involve human participants? This means your research will require ethical approval. Do you know the different types of consent, for example consent for research participation and consent for data protection? How much do you know about the role of informed consent in data sharing and reuse, ethically and legally? Do you plan to publish your data for future reuse?

Presenter: Dr Hina Zahid.
Level: Introductory.
Experience/knowledge required: None.
Target audience: Researchers/anyone interested in ethical and legal aspects of sharing research data.

This event starts on November 05 at 11:00 GMT+2.
