Work Plan 2018
Enhanced Data Management Training
New training resources in data discovery will be developed for researchers. The online expert tour guide on data management launched in 2017 will be expanded upon and further content for advanced training and train the trainer events created. A number of workshops and webinars will also take place.

Implementing the CESSDA Persistent Identifier Policy
The goal is to support the implementation of the CESSDA PID Policy developed in 2017 by the CESSDA service providers. With this in mind, extended Best Practice Guidelines will be created on specific topics related to the FAIR principles. An assessment of the results of the Research Data Alliance (RDA)-EU adoption project on “Persistent Identifier Types for the Social Sciences” (PITSS) conducted in 2017 by CESSDA MO, DANS and GESIS will also be carried out.

Trust 2018
This project aims to support and provide training to all CESSDA service providers in acquiring and prolonging CoreTrustSeal certification. It is crucial that all CESSDA service providers are perceived as trusted bodies by universities, national statistical offices, funders, researchers and other relevant stakeholders. A proposal will also be developed for FAIR implementation by CESSDA service providers.

Data Catalogue
The goal is to create a central one-stop-shop for search/discovery of the products and services available from within the CESSDA community. The Data Catalogue will be the main interaction point between researchers and CESSDA service providers, and needs to support diverse functionality and workflows to fulfill this role.
Building on the initial release made in 2017, which established the product architecture and implemented the 'must have' requirements, this phase will add the 'should have' requirements, and address any performance or usability issues that have come to light during testing.

January - December 2018
Participants
UK Data Service (lead), FSD, NSD, DANS, FORS, GESIS, external development agency
Technical Framework 2018
The scope is to broaden from provision and maintenance of the technical infrastructure and development and deployment of products for use by researchers (such as the Data Catalogue, EQB and CV Manager), to include 'back-office' tools for content creation and management (such as Vocabulary Services Content Maintenance), monitoring and logging system performance and availability and receiving and analysing feedback from users.
As the products come online and usage by researchers grows, it will be necessary to maintain high levels of user experience and the necessary tools and techniques will be developed (incl. product availability, error detection, enhanced security, etc.). Feedback will be gathered from users regarding the usability, features and performance of individual products. This will allow for enhancements to be planned and implemented over their lifetime.

Vocabulary Services Multilingual Content Management
This will project will define a CESSDA-wide policy regarding creation and maintenance of multilingual content. It will also continue to extend the ELSST Thesaurus core terms, increase the number of languages that core terms are translated into, and provide guidance documentation for Vocabulary Service content translators, amongst other tasks.
The ELLST thesaurus management system will be transferred from UK Data Service to CESSDA. It will also be reviewed after use by the service providers with an aim to enhance this for the translators and users of the thesaurus.

CESSDA Widening Activities 2018
CESSDA aims to achieve full European coverage. Between 2015 and 2017, widening activities were covered within the CESSDA SaW Horizon 2020 project. Moreover, several CESSDA partners initiated two other widening related projects, SERSCIDA (2012-2014) and SEEDS (2015-2017).
This project aims to build on recent developments within the aforementioned projects and ensure the continuity of CESSDA widening efforts. CESSDA will maintain its network of CESSDA Partners, aspiring non-member service providers from the CESSDA SaW project, and increase its visibility in non-member countries. Two widening workshops will be held in 2018.
