Webinar: Tables and Pivot Tables in Excel Event

Tables were introduced into Excel in 2007 but are still not that commonly used. Perhaps because casual users think they are using tables all of the time, after all their data is in rows and columns?

The advantages of using tables is not well advertised. There are in fact many benefits of using tables in Excel, some may seem cosmetic such as maintaining column names when you scroll down but there are some more useful benefits such as allowing complete data validation on data input and being able to join tables without the need for lookup functions.

Pivot tables are possibly more used than tables but often only for relatively simple data summarisations. Additionally, they can be used to find unique (or non-unique) values and provide basic statistics and, as we can now easily join tables, what about a pivot table using multiple tables?

This free webinar, organised by the UK Data Service, will demonstrate all of the above and more.

The webinar will last for 1 hour with 15 minutes for questions and answers at the end.

Speaker: Peter Smyth, University of Manchester
